Today my thoughts are with the students who have failed their exams.

Life is full of uncertainty and even though we try and control things, none of us know what’s around the corner. We get swept away by anxiety and fear. We all face challenges, and our narrow-minded focus means that we cannot see beyond the problem.

How can we find a solution to help us navigate through these storms of life?

We must learn to see the world around us and have a 360-degree view of life instead of being swept away by our inner turmoil. In so doing, we can gain a sense of perspective and balance the good and bad, the beautiful and the ugly, the joy and sadness of life that exists in every day we live.

A useful analogy you can use is one of a lighthouse that is perched on a steep cliff facing a fierce tempest with gale force winds and monstrous waves.

The lighthouse is steadfast and keeps shining its light in all directions. Instead of focusing on the storm, the lighthouse changes its focus constantly, which sustains it through good and bad times.

When you face intense challenges, try and shift into this 360-awareness appreciating the other things that are good in your life.

By having a bigger picture, you can step back and approach the challenge with greater strength and an inner calmness which will allow you to ride through the storm.

It will soon pass. You can get through it.
